Well, we survived the mountains, but only barely. No bears or mountain lions. And though we saw lots of smoke from the fires around us, we never saw flames. Unfortunately the only disaster was a fall at the end, on the hike out. My new buddy Paul Kratter fell down a steep, slippery section of trail, dislocated his patella and broke his femur.
