Carol Marine's Painting a Day

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY   12/17/16

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "Juicy Bits"

A few days ago our world was hit by an ice storm, and we are still recovering. The night OF sounded like a war zone, with cracking and popping and trees & limbs falling everywhere. We were fortunate not to lose any trees, but we lost some pretty big limbs, and ... most importantly, internet. Not that I'm complaining. Many lost power and are still without. But the lack of internet has prevented me from shipping or posting, and I sincerely apologize for that. Today we braved the icy roads and drove into town in search of a wifi hotspot. And here we are.

But the real reason I made the effort (in addition to showing you this painting), is to announce
my latest book!
It's another little collection of 100 paintings, from the last 2 years, Vol. 7. You'll find it for sale in my online book store (scroll down just a little).

The book came out a little later than I expected, so it's probably too late for a Christmas gift. So I'm putting it on sale for one month (until Jan 17)!! Happy Holidays!

Ps. You can see a little video of my book on Facebook. : )

Here are a few other paintings that are still available:

Carol Marine's Painting a Day

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY   12/13/16

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "All the King's Men"

When we got home from our month in Germany I found a carton of eggs in the fridge that I figured probably shouldn't be eaten. So I decided to paint them instead! I also decided to pull out some of the backgrounds I painted forever ago. Above is my most favorite color combination - green and turquoise.

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "Into the Glow"

For some reason I often have a hard time painting around the edges of egg yolks. They need a slightly soft edge, and I am better at hard edges. I find myself fussing with that more than I'd like. So I'm trying to come up with some exercises for edges.

"Pam's Favorite Spot"

This (above) is one of the few larger paintings I had leftover from my gallery show earlier this year. I really like it. The gal is Pam, my friend who moved away to Tucson. : ( Before she left she posed for me around her house and I've painted several from that day.

Here are a few other paintings that are still available:

Carol Marine's Painting a Day

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY   12/9/16

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "Cozy Up Rose"

I painted this (and the rose at the bottom of this email) when I was in Germany. There were more but these were the only two that made the cut. I'm especially proud of this one. My goal is to make them FEEL 3d, and I think I managed it here.

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "Into the Glow"

This is another scene from Berlin, about a block from the flat we rented. The sun was just peeking over the buildings on the opposite side, and the glow from it was just magical!

Click Here to Bid  - 6x6in. - "Talk to Me Rose"

Doesn't this one look like it's leaning in to the next rose to hear all the secrets?

Carol Marine's Painting a Day

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY   12/6/16

I'm excited to announce a new ArtByte (online tutorial)! This one is called "Taking, Editing & Painting (from) Photo References." Check it out in my ArtByte Store.

In it I share everything I've learned about taking pictures for painting later (vs. simply taking pictures), what your camera isn't capturing and some tricks for overcoming this, what camera to use, how to set your camera, how to edit photos on your computer, and tips for drawing and painting from them. There are no videos, but there is/are tons of info and pictures, including examples of photos I've painted from (and the subsequent paintings). The cost is $10.

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "A Google Break"

My husband and I call our ventures around a city: Urban Adventures. They usually involve a lot of Googling to look at restaurant reviews or maps to the next place. I suspect that's exactly what these two were doing.

Click Here to Bid - 6x6in. - "Walking in Berlin"

This one above is from our recent trip to Germany. We spent the first 10 days in Berlin, seeing the sights. Most of the days were cold and grey, but on this day the sun (sort of) came out, so I walked around taking as many pictures as I could.

Click Here to Bid  - 6x6in. - "Red Door"

This is another one from Berlin, a common sight there. Our journey home last week was ... long. It took 3 days, 2 trains, a plane, 2 all night car drives and very little sleep. It wasn't quite what we expected, but we made it work, and we are now safely home and recovering.
