Carol Marine's Painting a Day - "Crossing with Bags"

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY 12/7/15

"Crossing with Bags" - 8x8in. - click to bid

Are you afraid of phthalo? Well listen to this. I recently took a tour of the Gamblin factory in Portland with some artist friends, and while I was there I learned some things. Among those, was that they have a whole line of "student grade" paint called 1980. The phthalo in this line has some marble dust as filler, which makes it cheaper. The tour guide suggested this might be a less "scary" alternative to the full strength phthalo. He then handed me a complimentary tube of it, and I've been using it ever since. I LOVE it!!! Before I would always use TINY, TINY amounts of pthalo to get what I wanted. Now I don't have to worry! It's awesome. I highly recommend it. And I'm really not just saying that because they gave me a free tube. : )

Meanwhile, this is another scene from San Francisco. I love these typical street scenes.

Carol Marine's Painting a Day - "Heading Underground"

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY 12/4/15

"Heading Underground" - 8x8in. - click to bid

I caught these two guys heading down to the underground train in San Francisco a while back. I love the back light, the shadow, and the movement the scene captures. And the rails. : ) I can't say enough how much painting as much as I can from life has helped me interpret the photos I've taken.

Carol Marine's Painting a Day - "Duck Duck Goose, In Reverse"

CAROL MARINE'S PAINTING A DAY 12/3/15

"Duck Duck Goose, In Reverse" - 8x8in. - click to bid

I decided when I'm painting people I need to increase my panel size. This one is 8x8 inches, and it was so much easier to do than on a 6x6! Maybe it's just my eyesight that's going. I am almost 40 after all. How on earth did I get to be middle age?! It's unreal.

I'm putting all my books (except Daily Painting) on sale until the New Year! They make great gifts, btw. : ) Here's where my books are sold in case you're interested.
